[헷갈리는 영어단어] 텝스, 토익, 토플에 잘나오는 비슷한 영어단어 plodding(터벅터벅 걷다)-flooding(범람, 대량출혈)

영어공부를 하면 할수록 비슷한 영어단어들을 많이 발견할 수 있다. 발음이 비슷하거나 철자가 비슷한 단어들은 많이 문장속에서 활용하지 않으면 정말 헷갈리기 쉽다.


오늘은 plodding(터벅터벅 걷다, 계속하다)와 flooding(범람, 대량출혈) 입니다.

반면에  flooding은 쉬운 단어입니다.

'뭔가 넘치는 이미지'를 떠올리면 됩니다. 물이 넘치면 범람(우리말로 범람이지만 영어는 뭔가가 넘치면 flood를 쓰면 됩니다. 영어는 어떤 면에서 쉽습니다.), 생각이 넘치는 것도 flood입니다. 의견들이 넘치는 것도 flood, 사람들이 넘치는 것도 flood of people입니다. 눈물이 넘치는 것도 flood of tears입니다.
