[영어단어] 토익, 텝스시험 대비 헷갈리는 영어단어공부 brood-blood


오늘은 blood와 헷갈리기 쉬운 영어단어 brood에 대해서 공부해봅니다.

l 과 r 한 글자 차이입니다.

brood는 뭔가를 계속 지속하는 것의 의미...

명사로 brood는 "the young of an animal cared for at one time"(동물의 새끼들)


동사로

1. think moodily or anxiously about something : 
  ☞  어떤 것에 대해 기분이 좋지 않게, 걱정스럽게 생각하는 것..

2. hang over(뇌리를 떠나지 않는 것), as of something threatening, dark, or menacing
   (위협적인) : 뭔가 좋지않은 것이 계속 뇌리를 떠나지 않는 것.

3. sit on (eggs) : 부화시키기 위해서 앉아 있는 것

너 여전히 마음에 두고 있는 것 아니지? / 그가 한 말을 /그렇지?




A brood is a group of baby birds that were born at the sam time to the same mother.

If someone broods over something, they think about it a lot, seriously and often unhappily.

The two horses had just lain down when a brood of ducklings, which had lost their mother, filed into the barn, cheeping feebly and wandering from side to side to find some place where they would not to trodden on.



* duckling : young duck
* lie-lay-lain (누워있다,눕다, 놓여있다)
* file into~ : ~로 줄지어 들어가다.
* barn: 외양간
* cheeping feebly : 약하게 짹짹거리며
* wandering : 돌아다니며
* tread-trod-trodden : 발을 디디다.


blood는 별도로 설명이 필요없을 것 같습니다. ^^
